How to make it
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- For the seasoning mixture: In a small mixing bowl, combine Olive Oil, Salt & Pepper, Worstershire Sauce, Soy Sauce, Minced Garlic, Chopped Onion, Lemon Juice.
- Place steak on center of foil sheet..
- Place a small amount of the seasoning mixture to the steak, quickly turn the steak over.
- Sprinkle Salt & Pepper on the steak, and then place potatoes and carrots on the steak, top with the remaining seasoning mix.
- Carefully fold the foil into a "packet"..
- Place packet on cookie sheet..
- Roast in oven for 1 hour - reducing heat to 350 after 30 minutes.
- At this time, take the steak packets out of the oven, carefully open them, to check the progress..
- You will probably want to return them to the oven for another 30 minutes at this point.
- Remove from oven, let set for 10-15 minutes, or until ready to serve!
- Trust me, this will be the MOST tender steak you will ever try! =)

I don't like this recipe...I used two different pieces of steak, packaged separately and they both turned out like a Dr. Scholl's innersole. Placing the vegetables on the meat was a major mistake...had I put them in the bottom where they belonged, they would have cooked. The potatoes were almost done and the carrots hadn't even started to cook. I WON"T be recommending this recipe to anyone whom I like.

Very good, but cooking in foil is unhealthy. Wrap it in parchment paper first,...then foil.

???? First clue you might not cook much is noticing you pay 24 bucks a pound for one of the cheapest cuts.

This was awesome. The only change I made was to quickly brown the steaks in a frying pan first. I had pretty thin steaks, so I cooked them at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Delicious!

Was this review helpful? Yes FlagDinner in a pouch!! What could be better?
Just made this with a few minor modifications. I used three individual steaks. Doubled the seasoning mixture. Added sliced carrots (lengthwise), sliced vidalia onion and 2 sliced new potatoes per steak. Sprinkled each with salt, pepper, oregano and paprika. Drizzled with melted butter and then formed pouches. 30 minutes at 400, 30 minutes at 350. Lest rest unopened for 15 minutes. Delicious!
I am already thinking about making this with hot peppers next time. mmmm - Leenback 10 years ago Was this review helpful? Yes Flag
Making this right now, I hope it turns out great. Just added the carrots since I'm making loaded mash potatoes!

Just want to give you kudos on a great recipe. Working overnites during christmas season and found a sirloin tip round steak on clearance at the grocery store. Was thinking of cube steak when I bought it but when I got home I looked up recipes and found yours. Everything was easy to read and understand and even though it took a few days until I could make it, it turned out just like you said! Thanks again!

Loved this dish! I used three thin sirloin tip steaks and wrapped each indvidually with carrots. Baked at 400 for only 20 minutes and then 25 minutes at 350. I could have used more seasoning but otherwise very good!

Dish is as described - just like pot roast, and the potatos and carrots were done perfectly.
Only modification I did was to season and brown the steak before putting it in the foil, and adding dry onion soup mix instead of onions to the foil. Perfect recipie for singles who get a hankerin' for pot roast. Also works well with blade/chuck steak.

Was this review helpful? Yes FlagI was a bit confused over TB and Tsp. Normally it's Tbsp (capital T) for tablespoons and tsp (small T) for teaspoons so I made guesses. It turned out alright. The steak was a bit dry. Next time I'll add some more liquid - maybe some cooking wine. It was pretty good though.
