A Squishmallow's "collector number" refers to the number listed after the size information on a Squishmallow's tag (ex. S5 #1366-2 / Squishdate: 01.14.2022). This number represents when the character was created relative to other Squishmallows. For instance, Cam has a collector number of 1, because he was the first Squishmallow character ever produced. Conversely, Calio has a much higher collector number of 1366, because she was the one-thousand-three-hundred-and-sixty-sixth Squishmallow character ever produced.
Version Number[]
Different editions of the same character will all share the same collector number. However, editions are still distinguished from one another by an additional version number that comes after the collector number (ex. S5 #1366-2 / Squishdate: 01.14.2022). To look at a specific example, the collector number on the version of Cam where he's dressed in a giraffe costume appears as "#1-5", where "1" is the actual collector number, and "5" is the version number. This means that this is the 5th unique release of the character Cam.
Notably, the first edition of a character will omit the version number entirely.
Special Cases[]
There are some Squishmallow lines that use a unique acronym on their tags instead of the usual "S" (ex. SFZ12 #1 / Squishdate 10.5.2021). These plushie lines (which include Fuzz-A-Mallows - SFZ, Squish-Doos - SD, the Check-In Series - SCI, etc.) use a separate set of collector numbers entirely, which are specific to each line. For instance, Karina normally has a collector number of 85, but her Fuzz-A-Mallow version has a collector number of 1, because she was the first Fuzz-A-Mallow ever produced.
Similarly to Squishdates, licensed Squishmallows (ex. Sanrio, Pokemon, etc.) and some of the spin-off plushie lines (ex. Stackables, Hug Mees, Flip-A-Mallows, etc.) will not have a collector number listed on their tag.
